A l'heure actuelle, une grande partie du territoire valaisan n'a pas encore fait l'objet d'une mensuration. Ces surfaces concernent pour la majorité des régions forestières et incultes ou des alpages. Pour que la mensuration officielle fonctionne comme référence dans les systèmes d’information du territoire et pour qu'elle constitue une des composantes de l’infrastructure nationale de données géographiques, la Confédération souhaite que les données recouvrent la totalité du territoire.
/ Mise en œuvre en Anniviers
Pour Anniviers, une commission ad hoc a recensé tous les propriétaires concernés et leur a demandé de transmettre tous les documents attestant de la propriété d'un fonds ainsi que de procéder à la recherche/au dégagement voir au piquetage des limites.
Une grande recherche dans les archives bourgeoisiale a donc été menée afin de récolter le maximum d'informations utiles à cette demande et à la localisation des éventuelles bornes sur le terrain.
Pour la Bourgeoisie de Chandolin, une délémitation des propriétés existait déjà pour les données forestières. Néanmoins, la recherche et le dégagement des limites a dû être réalisé sur plus de 11 km et a nécessité 4 jours de travail.
/ Collaborer avec les propriétaires confins
Afin de faciliter les démarches, ces dégagements de limites ont été réalisés par le Conseil avec des représentants des propriétaires confins. Aux Couquelles, des représentants du Conseil bourgeoisial et du triage forestier de Sierre se sont joints à la démarche. Pour l'Alpage de Chandolin, c'est avec une délégation du Comité du consortage que la tâche a été réalisée et enfin, la délimitation vers Niouc et St-Luc a été réalisée avec le Conseil bourgeoisial de St-Luc.

• Confins de St-Luc et Niouc : 29 bornes dégagées et recoloriées.
• Les Couquelles : 18 bornes dégagées et recoloriées.
